I'm crafty, I'm handy, intellegent and handsy.
A good day is doing some motor work, repairs or regular maintenence.
Catch me in the garage with the sheers and sheet metal. I love to weld and fabricate!
Self taught - by the best critic around..
Ever since I was a wee young pre teen I had dreamed of working on and fixing up my own cars.
My dad was a mechanic for several years and over time I eventually picked things up while giving him a hand working on some old trucks around the yard. In my mid Teens I switched up Highschools during the late summer as I moved to another city. I was unable to take Automotive or Welding at the time due to those classes already being full. If only those teachers could see me now! Long story short I was left with the only choice left; Carpentry. So I took that class, aced it and learned some pretty cool stuff.
Next year, Grade 11 I tried again for automotive or welding, but the kids from the Grade 9 (Jr high) classes had priority and no-one was going to give up their spot; so I took Carpentry level 2.
At the time my dad had a late 1980s Chrysler Daytona, with the flip up headlights - and because he knew I wanted to take mechanics and/or welding and never got to; he decided if I fixed up the Daytona I could have it - So i did just that. Every weekend I would go to my dads and work on this car until one weekend there was no more car..
You may be thinking "why, where did it go" and to answer your question, he sold it! Yes, you read that right. Some people may read that and think "awh, that is cruel". Sure it was, but I learned a very important lesson: "If you buy your own cars your dad cant sell them on you!".
So I finished grade 11 and it was time to move back to the "City City", I met a girl had a baby and thats where my school adventure stops - for now.
Fast forward a few years I went to a colledge to get my High School Diplomal (Yay Me!) and I began my carreer working in IT. While I always has a passion for working on cars this was something new for me to learn. I always told and tell myslef: "if I can try it, I can do it". Over the years I have had a few cars that i worked on, fixed up and/or broke down. In my early 20s I bough a 1997 Cavalier Z24. The car had "heated springs" and was not safe at all to be on the road. I took it home afer a few months and began to work on it. I put new coil overs and springs all around, brakes and drilled/slotted rotors, repaired some of the body that was getting bad - including the rocker panels, put a nice stainless steel M2 Header on it and put the biggest catback exhaust system I could find at the time, on it. 2.5 inches of pure loudness from the headers back - It was too much even for me in my 20's so I found another exhaust system and cut the resinator out an put that in the Cavalier along with a silencer. The sound was perfect and just what I wanted.
Fast forward a few more years and now is where the story begins. Stick along for the Journey, the Repairs, The fabrication and most importantly the fun!
